Hello to our students from Uruguay and the United States.
The purpose of this collaboration is to get to know each other and understand better our cultures. As a first step, please answer the following questions in your own language or English:
1. Describe a typical day.
2. What do you think are the most serious problems in your society?

1. A typical day in my life starts with breakfast. I usually enjoy eggs over medium on a bagel with avocado. Then normal things like picking an outfit and basic necessities. I usually have my bag packed with everything I need for class such as my laptop and binder. I drive myself to class while listening to music or an audio book. I have class Monday through Thursday. Once I am home I spend time playing with my pets ( 2 dogs 1 cat & a snake) I make dinner and discuss my day with my partner. Then I usually finish assignments and spend the night reading a book.
ResponderBorrar2. I think the most serious problems our society faces right now are wealth inequality and environmental dangers.
3. I do believe there is a push towards individualism.
4. I do know details of several of my fellow classmates I would say at least 5 I know more about and at least 10 I know basic information about.
5. The most common stereotypes I see in the media relates to the separate spheres the sexes are put into. Also race related stereotypes.
6. I believe young people have always been interested in politics. Now we have social media connecting us to world events making our power even greater.
7. Fast food is very popular, however I don't think it will remain this way.
8. I believe women have the right to make decisions regarding their body and it is not the government’s right to do so.
9. My favorite movies are romantic comedies from the 90's and early 00's and sci-fi/ fantasy genres.
10. I dedicate too many hours to social networks but I also read the other majority of my time.
11. Not everyone has the ability to have children naturally. However I do see myself having a stable partner and enjoying my time with family.
1. A typical day in my life starts around 6.30 am (when I have class). I would have a strawberry oatmeal and a glass of orange juice for breakfast. Then I would pick the outfit I'm gonna wear for the day, do my skincare and makeup. After, I would put my computer in my bag and leave to the uni. I have a 30 minute walk so I usually listen to music or call my friends and family in France. After my classes are done, I would walk back home, eat a snack and head to the gym. After my training, I would shower, have dinner while watching youtube videos. I would finish some homework if I have some and then go to bed. I have class from monday to thursday so I get to enjoy a nice 3 days long weekend.
ResponderBorrar2. To me, the biggest problem that is faced by our society is the important difference in terms of wealth, health in education in many countries.
3. I think that we try to tend people to go for union but the actions are more individualists.
4. As an exchange student, I have only known my classmates for two weeks. I have naturally gotten along with a dozen of the other international students. I think I have started learning details about them.
5. The most common stereotypes I have heard are mainly linked about the differences between men and women but also based on races stereotypes.
6. I don't think young people are that much interested in politics.
7. Yes ! Definitely ! Fast food are so popular to everyone, even grandparents know them and have already been customers fast food places.
8. I also agree on the importance that should be attributed to women's rights on all topics.
9. I don't watch much movies, I am more into series like Prison break, You, Lupin and many others.
Concerning the music, I love french rap and french pop and RnB.
10. I spend too many hours on social media, Tiktok, Instagram and Youtube but I also spend a lot of time on Linkedin.
11. I for sure, don't want to get married because marriage has teared apart and ruined many families I know. I had never been thinking about future because I had never met someone I could see myself with in the future. However I have been with my boyfriend for a year now and he has changed my perception of my future situation. I really don't like children so I am wanting to have any, but maybe that will also change !

11.Yes, I'd like to meet a girl and eventually start a family (4) one day, Trying to figure out career first.
1.) Going to school. After school I study. Afterwards I go home, eat lunch /dinner, and continue to work on any classwork or homework. If I am caught up with my work, I take the time to do any chores or engage myself into my hobbies. And finally, I end the day.
ResponderBorrar2.) Poverty and segregation between social class, there are few wealthy citizens and plenty of middle to lower class citizens.
3.) I believe there is an increase in individualism in our current society.
4.) I am not aware of the lives of my classmates, I am only aware of the personal lives of one or two students.
5.) The prominent stereotype in television is the dehumanizing, oversexualizing, or the degrading of women. As well as the portrayal of women being gentle, weak, and simple minded. Men also have the stereotype of being overly masculine with a lack of empathy and a strong sexual drive. However, it is more likely to have a diversity of male characters over female characters. Both stereotypes push a false image onto both sexes and cause conflict within society.
6.) As far as I have seen, there is a 50/50 between younger generations who are interested in politics and those who are not interested. The younger generation are usually more concerned for creating a better society or self-improvement/individuality. As for the other half of the young generation interested in politics, most see their political views as part of their identity.
7.) Fast food is increasingly popular within American society, as it is more convenient for Americans to order food rather than to spend time preparing their meals. For example, the average American will seek fast food when they are on break from their jobs or when they are in a hurry and need a quick meal.
8.) Equality among all American citizens. With two of many major factors being better housing and better work pay. Many of Americans risk facing homelessness due to the outrageous cost of housing and the depressing amount of pay a middle and lower class citizen earns.
9.) I don’t watch many movies, however my favorite games are the Devil May Cry series, Hellblade: Senuas Sacrifice, the God of War series, Signalis, Spiritfarer, and The Last Guardian. I love almost all kinds of music, however, my favorite band is BTS and my favorite solo artists would be Aurora and HANA.
10.) I am not aware of how long I am on social media, nonetheless I dedicate my time to studying, doing any kinds of chores, gardening, and engaging in my hobbies. However, when I don’t have much to do I go on social media until im motivated to continue either my chores or hobbies. Therefore, I would assume a neutral amount of time. If I had to guess, I would say around 21 or less hours a week.
11.) I do not plan on having a family or partner yet; I am focused on my studies and gaining an independent lifestyle. In due time I will find a partner, regardless I do not intend to have any children. Still, if my partner wants children I would not mind, although it would be a limited number with a maximum amount of three or four. For now I wish to enjoy both my youth and life as well as stabilizing myself.
1. A typical day for me starts with waking up at 10:00 am for school and then getting home by 2:30/3:00 pm where I'll either have lunch or dinner depending on when I'm hungry. I'll then relax for a little while and then start homework if I have any. By the time I'm usually done with that it's around time for when I go to bed.

3. I believe there is an increase in individualism. Although, I think people try and be united but their own individuality is stronger.
4. I don't know many of my classmates personally nor in depth but I know some have jobs, siblings and/or family to take care of, as well as other classes they take.
5. Some of the most common stereotypes I see and hear are ones based on women and men as well as the different stereotypes of different races. Women are commonly over sexualized as well as seen as dumb and simple minded while men are seen as lacking emotions and having a strong sexual drive.
6. I think some young people are interested in politics and know much more about it at a young age compared to older generation due to usage of social media but at the same time I believe it depends on the young person themselves as some aren't that actively knowledgeable about what is going on.
7. Yes, fast food has become exceptionally popular over the years to the point where there are apps now that allow you to order from restaurants/fast food chains and have it delivered to wherever you are without having to go get it yourself.
8. The social change that are most important to me is woman's rights as well as inflation. I want to be able to freely do as I please with my body and not let someone else dictate what I can and can't do with myself. For inflation everything has become so expensive to the point where buying and doing simple things like getting groceries has become so expensive and outrageous that some people struggle to have the bare necessities to live comfortably.
9. I don't watch movies that much but one of my favorite movie series has to be the Harry Potter series. For music and artists I don't have a favorite for either that I specifically listen to so I'm open to listening to almost anything if I like it.
10. I don't know the exact amount of hours I spend on social media but I know I spend quite a bit of time on Instagram and YouTube and some other apps listening to music or reading.
11. In the future I know I'd like to get married and have a stable partner at least. As for children I am unsure right now as I am young but maybe depending on where I am at in life financially and stability wise.
1. My day starts in my bed usually around 8-10 am depending on the day then I eat breakfast and brush my teeth, get dressed then head out to attend my classes. After class I go home eat lunch and make a meal for work. I leave shortly afterwards for work. My job is fairly mellow so I have plenty of downtime, it helps for school when I get assigned a lot of work. After work I go home and eat dinner, do my chores for the day and take a shower. Usually after that I will play video games or watch a show or movie, then it is time for bed.
ResponderBorrar2. What I believe the most serious problems in my society is the division of wealth and hospitality of the socioeconomic classes. The "1%" controls over 90% of America and lets the working and middle class struggle to make ends meet.
3. As of recent years I do believe individualism has increased much more than it was in previous years, I think it is due to social media.
4. I would not say I could describe one of my classmates life, but I could tell you what they enjoy and maybe some things they might do in a day.
5. The most common stereotype I think I see the most probably would be that crime rate is sky rocketing but in reality every crime is put on television making people think that there is more happening.
6. I think young people are interested in politics. I believe this because most of the younger generation sees how the older generations left the world in shambles, so we must take control and bring the world back together.
7. Fast food is extremely popular, most of the fast food places near me usually have a line almost all of the time. I like taco bell the most.
8. I think socially anyone should be able to have what ever hairstyle or clothing, that is appropriate, because many people do not want to express themselves how they want because it is not seen as socially okay.
9. I love the Dark Knight trilogy very much, I usually do not like musicals but my girlfriend made me watch Les Miserables and that was very good. I watch a lot of anime too, but I play games more. I like all the Dark Souls games, and a lot more single player games. Right now my favorite music artists are in no order: Ken Carson, Yeat, Lucki, Chief Keef and Pastel Ghost.
10. I do not really dedicate time to social networks but in a typical week I probably use them anywhere from 10-12 hours, I am trying to lessen my time on social medias, as I believe it is not good for your mental health.
11. I do want to have a family. I wish to marry my girlfriend in the near future but while we are in college it would be too expensive, later down the line I do want to have kids. Before kids I do want to travel a lot with my spouse around the world.
1. Normally I wake up at around 8am or 9am to get ready for my classes. On the days I do not have classes I will wake up a little later depending on if I am babysitting my friends baby or not. After college I will be back home by around 3pm and eat lunch. Then, I will either help my family with things, feed or clean the animals, or do other chores. After that, I will eat dinner and then go to sleep after watching a movie or a tv show.
ResponderBorrar2. I am not from. the United States originally so I might not know all the problems yet. In my opinion it would be the regarding the poor and wealthy populations. It is not well distributed in my personal opinion.
3. I do think that individualism has increased in recent years from what I can see and feel. That did not just happen in the United States though but also in other countries around the world.
4. It is my first year here at HCC but I could describe the lives of multiple people I met during that time. Definitely not as many as I would back in my home country Germany but still some.
5. Some of the most common stereotypes I know of and see pretty often are regarding men and women and how both genders are portrayed. Even though the times have changed and everything is seen as more equal now.
6. I personally do not know that much about politics in the United States yet because I have only been here for 1 1/2 years. But in general I know a lot of people in Germany and the US that are interested in politics at a young age. I think that is good because we are the next generation.
7. Fast Food is definitely extremely popular in the United States. It is quite different in regards to Germany as well. I was really surprised when I came here to see all the different fast food chains and the amount of them in a single city.
8. For me it is important to live freely as a women. I do not support rights that tell women what to do or not to do because everyone should be able to decide on their own body. Women's rights are very important as a social change.
9. My favorite movies are probably Harry Potter series, Fast and the Furious, and all the Marvel Movies. My favorite artists are Harry Styles, Yungblud, Bad Bunny, and Coldplay. But i listen to all kind of music genres.
10. I do not have a specific number because it depends on how busy I am during the week. I mostly use social media before going to sleep or whenever I have a minute in between.
11. I am interested in starting a family in the future and also have children. I do want to wait before settling down completely though because I want to travel the world and stay in other countries for months at a time to experience their lifestyle and see as much as possible of the world. But whenever I feel like I am in a good position, financially and all, I would definitely like to have kids.
1. On a typical day, I wake up and start my day by brushing my teeth. After that, I take a refreshing shower and put on my clothes. Finally, I get ready to go to school and attend my classes. After school, I usually go to the gym to work on getting stronger and show off my incredible strength. Then, I typically head home and start working on my homework. Once I finish, I like to relax by playing video games or watching a show. Finally, when it's time, I go to bed.

5. Cultural stereotypes are commonly shown through television, social media, and other forms of media, shaping biased perceptions about different cultural groups.
6. Young people in our society typically display minimal interest in politics, possibly because they perceive politics as distant and unrelated to their lives.
7. Yes, fast food is a popular choice for quick meals in our society because it is affordable and convenient.
8. For me, the most important social change is achieving equality and justice for all individuals, regardless of their background or identity, to create a fair and inclusive society.
9. I love watching Marvel movies and listening to rap music, although I don't have a favorite artist.
10. I spend probably about 8 hours every week on social networks, talking to people online.
11. Yes, I am interested in starting a family in the future, with my beautiful wife, and having children. It represents a significant aspect of my future life plans.
1. A typical day starts around 8:30 am as I do my morning routine which consists of getting ready for the day and eating breakfast. Later, I go to college and stay from 10:30 am to around 3:00 pm. I eat dinner, do some chores and homework, and then get ready to go to bed around 11:00 pm.
ResponderBorrar2. The most serious issues surround wealth with the way that the rich don’t have to pay taxes compared to those who work, in middle and lower-income households.
3. Society is growing in individualism as many more are more centered on their needs and wants rather than helping each other.

5. Many of the stereotypes that I have seen on social media are regarding race or sex. As assumptions are made for many. Race is regarding women and men, regarding the way that men are seen as stronger and women as weak and oversensitive.
6. Many young people’s interest in politics has increased as numerous new policies are influencing the younger civilians.
7. Yes, as fast food has increased exponentially throughout the nation. There are at least multiple fast-food restaurants located within reach of the Highway as many civilians travel by car. And due to their accessibility, people tend to go for that type of food in order of not having to cook.
8. The most important social change is equity in the workplace based on race and sex as I want to feel free to work in an area that has zero discrimination policy towards their workers, as many issues regarding this still exist today in numerous workplaces.
9. Favorite movies are Legally Blonde, Beauty Shop, and Ocean’s 8. My favorite music is R&B, classical, and Afrobeats. And artists are Cleo Sol, Michael Jackson, and Frankie Ruiz.
10. Around 2 to 4 hours on social networks, which I’m trying to minimize, to be more productive in my studies.
11. I'm interested in getting married in the future, and getting children once financially stable to provide for them.
